Migrants protested for the third day in a row against EU border policies at the Maljevac border crossing. Croatian cops violently stopped migrants at the Bosnian/Croatian border. Several migrants were injured. The protests are ongoing.

The protests started on Monday and despite the violent way the Croatian cops are defending this EU outer border, the protesters seem to be determined to continue their actions against EU border policies. Refugees trying to cross the border broke police lines earlier today.
Croatian riot cops in full riot gear were deployed at the Bosnian/Croatian border. The cops also installed a fence. A helicopter of the Croatian police was also in the air.
Many of the migrants are sleeping rough in Bosnia and there is a growing fear for the onset of cold winter weather and a lack of adequate shelters. But once again EU member states show their ugly faces, the EU outer borders remain closed and are defended with police violence at the Serbian/Croatian- and the Bosnian/Croatian borders.
Apart from the daily police violence against migrants that are trying to cross these borders individually, Croatian cops also used batons and teargas against protesting migrants at the Maljevac border crossing, near Velika Kladusa, today. Minor clashes broke out, injuring several migrants and according to Croatian authorities two cops were also injured. Three migrants were brought to a nearby hospital. One of the injured migrants was a five year old child. “We received three injured migrants, a five-year-old and two adults who are under observation”, the Velika Kladuša hospital authorities announced.”
On their Facebook page, No Name Kitchen wrote: “Yesterday we left the area of the protest at 22:30, after distributing food, sleeping bags, blankets and some tents. Today we came back at 8:00 in the morning, and around 250 people are still camping in front of the border between Bosnia and Croatia. The volunteers working with No Name Kitchen were able to distribute some breakfast, with the prior consent of police officers. Where are European human rights when police officers beat refugees and teargas because of trying to cross the border? Some wounded have been taken to hospital by ambulance, but most of them still there, awaiting an answer. They intend to remain there until they are expelled from the area. There are several families, there are children, there isn’t humanity! We’ll keep informing!”
Bosnian authorities announced today that theUšivak” military barracks near Sarajevo, will open and be used as a migration centre. Migrants are not satisfied because it is situated far away from the border. Unsatisfied with conditions in Sarajevo, another group of about 90 migrants left for Bihać on a train earlier today, however, cops did not allow them to leave the train and escorted them to busses, that are to drive them back to Sarajevo, in “Ušivak”. The freedom of movement seem to be more and more restricted inside Bosnia.
In the early evening hours more migrants from Velika Kladusa arrived at the Maljevac border crossing, chanting “open borders” (video below).
Enough is Enough and the Cars of Hope collective just finished their work on a container in Velika Kladusa, Bosnia. The container will be used as a first aid station. In November they will start to build winterproof emergency shelters for the many people that sleep outside and in the improvised tents in the refugee camp in Kladusa. Neither the so-called big NGO’s, nor the state seem to be willing to do that until now and winter is coming fast. Of course daily needs like shoes, blankets and warm clothes are also being provided.
