Scripted Votes, Reinstating Jerusalem, & Political Corruption

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise that the major two political parties in the United States of America are corrupt, but the elite of both the Republican and Democratic parties are flaunting their mutual corruption in the most obvious ways possible. It’s either they believe that Americans will not wake up and realize what is truly happening, or they simply don’t care, because they don’t believe we will do anything about it. Either way, in case you missed coverage of the political conventions, some major changes occurred when both parties’ political platforms were voted upon at each party’s respective national convention this summer.

In essence, the RNC essentially resolved that it can allow presidential nominees to vet and choose their own delegates at the party convention, and the DNC removed some of their most important platforms only to pick up an awkward affirmation that the belief of ‘God’ is central to the American story and represents the Democratic platform, and that the party now recognizes Jerusalem to be the capitol of Israel.

While the corruption is clear within the confines of both of the political parties (both Republican and Democratic conventions used teleprompters to read off and declare which platform change could occur) I believe that it is most important to note that both of these proposals were voted through with a vocal vote, and that the while the chair of both the RNC and DNC gave options to reconsider, the verdict was always the same — and that the verdict never was the one that served the people. Those that opposed were essentially forced to join with those that agreed, and the delegates sent to vote on the issues were alarmed to realize that the issues they were voting on were already predetermined by the party leaders. This situation has many delegates and supporters puzzled, and it is even leading to individuals stepping away from their party affiliations and joining up with activists in the Occupy Movement. It should be alarming that such blatant corruption is happening just months before a major election. These changes are wild swings away from what once constructed both party visions, and in the case of the DNC’s resolution, has the possibilities of swaying our involvement in Middle East peace efforts.

“Amidst Boos And Multiple Votes, DNC Reverses Position And Reinstates Jerusalem. During the Democratic National Convention boos break out for the vote to reverse the party’s position on Jerusalem just as during the Republican National Convention the delegates views were overruled to push through an equally unsupported motion. Both party campaign chairs simply read the predetermined teleprompter script whilst the views of the delegates are totally undermined. “

So, the Democratic & Republican Conventions’ delegate votes were scripted and predetermined.

What does this mean for Americans? We can be certain that both major parties do not represent the people that they claim to serve. This means that when it comes to policy changes, platform changes, constitutional changes, or really any other position the party claims to have on anything at all, those serving beneath the party will either have to side with the teleprompter or risk losing their party affiliations. As long suspected by many in the country — namely Occupy activists and other radicals — the platforms represent the most elite in our country. Ordinary citizens no longer matter. Our politicians do not serve us.

Religious people — or, more accurately, Christians — in America are now being toyed around with by the Republicans as well with the Democrats. While those that have a religious affiliations or support religious philosophies behind a government may find solace in having both parties recognize religious influence, one should note that the scripts that are being read off of teleprompters at these conventions are not the words of a god-figure, but rather a writer that is paid for by special interest groups.

Now American Democrats will align with certain forces to recognize one of the most controversial states within the Middle East. This platform was not the work of a god-figure but rather, this has all been scripted by the elitists within the Democratic Party. The DNC is simply recognizing Jerusalem in order to create allies in the oil-rich Middle East, while at the same time attempting to persuade American Christians to consider voting for their candidates in the 2012 elections.

If you have any sense of religious philosophy, don’t believe for a second that this stance was taken for you or the betterment of America. This position will simply justify another war fueled by religious debate and will not focus upon the things that truly matter (such as starvation and famine, war and massacres, disease and disaster, etc.).

No matter how religious many Americans may be, we must always remember that politicians and governments are not here to serve religion. The separation of religion and state ensures that we do not all fall victim to the same system that the founders of America had once resisted. No matter what beliefs others may have, we are all supposed to respect each other and the rights stated in the (now apparently invalid) United States Constitution.

What does this mean for the world? While the DNC retreats from the fight for our civil liberties and takes up their once prior stance on Jerusalem and ‘god’, the United States is now able to take a more dominant stance on the Middle East. We will hail our government’s former support for the Arab Spring as a victory to the American ‘democratic’ system. The American government, along with private enterprise, will soon move into both Israel and the Egyptian area to corrupt those that continue to seek peace and build a new system for the people. Much like the oppression American activists experience today, the revolutionaries of the Arab Spring will now have to face off with American control and corruption. The same corporations that are lying to us, will now fight for control of the already dwindling oil reserves as the government continues to serve the American elite. During this time, the corporate media will continue to blackout certain aspects of people taking a rise for people, and the governments will make a crackdown on those that rise up to oppose such greed and corruption.

This isn’t a prediction, this is something that is already happening. The same news networks that are supposed to be bringing Americans honest and meaningful coverage of events are the same channels that are intentionally focusing their cameras away from the teleprompters of national political conventions. Amber Lyon, a three-time Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist, recently uncovered a tale of corruption within the American mainstream media which should be making international and national news, but very few mainstream news sources will report her story that depicts both corruption and torture by US-backed regimes:

In the segment, Lyon interviewed activists as they explicitly described their torture at the hands of government forces, while family members recounted their relatives’ abrupt disappearances. She spoke with government officials justifying the imprisonment of activists. And the segment featured harrowing video footage of regime forces shooting unarmed demonstrators, along with the mass arrests of peaceful protesters. In sum, the early 2011 CNN segment on Bahrain presented one of the starkest reports to date of the brutal repression embraced by the US-backed regime.

Despite these accolades, and despite the dangers their own journalists and their sources endured to produce it, CNN International (CNNi) never broadcast the documentary. Even in the face of numerous inquiries and complaints from their own employees inside CNN, it continued to refuse to broadcast the program or even provide any explanation for the decision. To date, this documentary has never aired on CNNi.

Having just returned from Bahrain, Lyon says she “saw first-hand that these regime claims were lies, and I couldn’t believe CNN was making me put what I knew to be government lies into my reporting.”

After Lyon’s crew returned from Bahrain, CNN had no correspondents regularly reporting on the escalating violence. In emails to her producers and executives, Lyon repeatedly asked to return to Bahrain. Her requests were denied, and she was never sent back. She thus resorted to improvising coverage by interviewing activists via Skype in an attempt, she said, “to keep Bahrain in the news”.

In March 2012, Lyon was laid off from CNN as part of an unrelated move by the network to outsource its investigative documentaries.

So our system is clearly corrupt, what should we do? It’s time to turn our televisions off and wake up. Corruption at this level has never been as transparent as it has become today. Never before have we been able to witness teleprompters feeding politicians predetermined outcomes, but now that we have we can use the our own minds when it comes to the upcoming American election system. Vote for a candidate that matters, vote third party, or even boycott the vote. Regardless of whether your favorite presidential candidate wins the election, at least you can say that you abstained from voting for one of the two evils. In this upcoming election the choice isn’t between the lesser of the two evils, it’s between two identical evils or a candidate that actually represents the people… and while a third-party candidate is unlikely to win this upcoming election, at least you can advocate for somebody that truly reflects your values, and when they lose you can get pissed and take your unrest into the streets where it belongs. Do not allow America to continue its corruption. Get pissed, get vocal, and revolt for a better world.
